I have above streamer that I use with my Oticon More 2 hearing aids. For years I have used the streamer attached to my Sony Bravia TV. Recently I tried to attach the same streamer to my Samsung Series 6 LCD TV, using the exact same configuration (RCA audio output L & R cables.) I cannot stream with the Samsung TV but I can with the previous Sony setup. I also tried using the TOSLINK optical cable, but with the same results. I have no idea what the problem is or how to correct it. Insights?

Let's forget about the Oticon TV Streamer 3.0 for a moment, hopefully you have TV Streamer 3.0 and not the older one.

Let's concentrate on your Samsung Series 6 LCD TV and look at two things;
  • What speakers are you listening to normally, without any streaming? TV Speakers, or other-external-speakers or soundbar?
  • What is your TV Sound-Out setting? (find it via TV-Remote Settings/All Settings/Sound/Sound Out)
And is this an accurate image of your TV rear panel?

No need to look farther. I was using external speakers on the Samsung TV. When I switched to the TV speakers, the streamer worked. Daaa!!! Thanks for your help.

But maybe you can setup for both. When you are not streaming, it may be nice to have the ability to listen via external speakers.

Also you want a Toslink/Optical connection for streaming so that you can stream surround sound as opposed to just left/right stereo sound.

Is your external speaker system connected to your TV using an HDMI Cable?

If Yes, then maybe you can use your TV Sound-Out setting (via TV-Remote Settings/All Settings/Sound/Sound Out) to set Sound Out to HDMI ARC. That will use your HDMI Cable for sending sound to the external speakers and free-up one of your Toslink/Optical ports for streaming so that you can stream surround sound and listen to helicopters flying overhead and other such surround sound features.

One more fly in the ointment. If you send the sound from your TV back to the external audio soundbar/audio-system then you may need to use the Toslink/Optical out from that external device/system (to the TV Addapter 3.0) and not the TV Optical out.

This is to avoid slight reverberation caused by audio signal latency.
