Noahlink Wireless 2 doesn't recognise my Oticon hearing aids

I've bought the Genie 2 software for $20 and a Noahlink WIreless 2 from Amazon for rather more! The software seems to install and I've updated the Noahlink drivers so that I get a HIMSA entry in device manager. Genie recognises the Noahlink and the lights turn on when I request it to connect, but it just times out.
I've tried again on a different computer on a wooden table with no metal or bluetooth devices in sight, but it makes no difference. The hearing aids are NHS Oticon Engage, acquired as replacements just a month or so ago, and work with my iPhone, with ConnectClip and with the Oticon app on Android, so they should be OK. I can't see anything in the Genie logs, but they are not easy to interpret.
I can send the Noahlink back to Amazon for a refund but I'd like to see if there's any wisdom here!

NHS Oticon Engage are actually (ReBranded Oticon Opn 2 hearing aids) and they are Pin-Code-Locked!

Please read a DIY School Hearing Aids (v2.2) PDF File named (Unlocking ReBranded Hearing Aids) which is alphabetized by manufacturer so you will need to scroll down to "Oticon" to find out how to unlock the NHS Oticon Engage hearing aids.

Read your PM/Conversation for info on how to find Oticon Genie2 2024.2 (for free) and I recommend that you devise an excuse to get a refund from the scammer who sold you a copy of Oticon Genie2. There are ways to claw back your payment.
 
Before I get an irritated reply from people telling me to search the forums, I've just done that, and found the solution! I've unlocked my hearing aids and the Noahlink now finds them!
Funny how you do the right thing too late:)

This wasn't even an irritated reply! I'm not going to bother trying to get the $20 back, because I paid it direct, and I knew I was taking a risk, but thanks for the info.
 
I've now managed to reprogram my Oticon Engage HAs, but I can't see any way to record the Audiogram settings, other than making a report with graphs. Is there a way of exporting the data to Excel, so I can keep a record of how my measurements change? So far, the best solution I've found is to set them to the first inaudible level, rather than to the quietest audible level, and that's probably because I don't have an acoustically quiet room.
The next stage is to try to program my Speech in Noise setting to actually work in a noisy environment, and I suspect that may be difficult.

Please read Step 3 – Choose (1 of 3) origins for measuring your hearing loss of the DIY School Hearing Aids PDF File named (02 How to Program your Hearing Aids).
In your case it seems you don't have the original settings inside the hearing aids from your last fitting session. So you need to use one of the other two sources for entering loss.
  • A paper audiogram. Click the link in my Signature Line to see a copy of my paper audiogram. This is entered at the very first Client step in Genie fitting software.
  • Use the In situ software feature to measure your hearing loss
Once you enter your hearing loss, then it does not change. You can make setting adjustments. But that is not accomplished by entering a new hearing loss.
 
Oh wait; I'm not sure if Brian's video (which is for Philips but also useful for Oticon) covers how to enter your hearing loss using in-Situ.
In Genie click Help / Open Help Files / Enter "in situ" in the search box and Press Enter
 
Thanks for the videos, which may be helpful for finding out more about the software, but they seem to indicate that you transfer or record the audiogram settings by eye. I was expecting that somewhere there would be a digital record of the audiogram that you could copy and then paste into Excel.
So here is my first attempt at an in-situ audiogram.

By eye, I can see that the right ear has 30 dB at 125 Hz and 40 dB at 250 Hz, and maybe 35dB at 500 Hz (etc.), but what I'm looking for is a CSV file or similar to record this accurately and then import to Excel. Maybe a Noah database would keep a record of all the fittings, but you've advised against that! I think I can change the grid lines to show the readings more accurately, but that's not like a copy and paste solution. At the moment, all I can do is to save the generated reports each time.
As another point, it would be good to have a way of overlapping left and right to see the similarities and differences, but I can't see how to do that in Genie2. That one may be easier to solve!

  • Or using in-Situ measure each frequency by responding to beeps in your hearing aids
Once you have done that, your hearing loss is ENTERED, and it doesn't change unless your hearing loss changes with age, or injury, or disease. You don't need to copy-or-paste a stable hearing loss.

Maybe you are talking about your adjustments (there can be many). Each fitting session is saved separately. You will have to click an expansion arrow ">" to see the multiple sessions.

Yes, I was talking about my adjustments. I hadn't realised the fitting sessions were saved separately, and that's a help. But it seems odd that the data isn't available digitally.
 
Yes the data is available digitally. But your assumptions about saving and re-entering your hearing loss for each fitting session is incorrect.

Your hearing loss in entered once. The fitting software calculates an Rx/Prescription/Gain-Settings based and that hearing loss. Once your Rx/Prescription/Gain-Settings has been calculated then your hearing loss is no longer used.

Unless, you make changes that are significant enough to cause the fitting software to recalculate your Rx/Prescription/Gain-Settings.
 
Fitting software is not designed to try one hearing loss, and then try another, different hearing loss.

Best Practice used by some/most audiologists is to use a sound proof booth to define your hearing loss using PTA/Pure Tone Audiometry where you press a button when you hear the tone. Then, some/most audiologists also use REM/Real Ear Measurement to insure that the amount of gain prescribed is reaching your eardrums because our ear canals are different.

They do this once. If you go back for adjustments they will not do this again. Unless there is reason to believe your hearing loss has changed.
 
If you want to make it work your way you might look into;
  • Genie2 / Genie 2 / Export selected client files or
  • Genie2 / Genie 2 / Export all client files
