Hi All you DIY self Programmers.
After the Fitting of my Real1's by an Audi (no REM) in september I backed Up my devices in Genie and started finetuning.
At one time I was looked at the video of the hearingclub selfprogramming the Philips 9040. He used NAL 2 and told about the differences. And guess what...I made an extra "patient" with my audiogram and did the NAL2 fitting and I am rather pleased with it.
So in my opinion worth a try if you are not fully happy with VAC+ or...am I overlooking things ? Please let me know..

Good work; You could also create a separate program for using the (NAL2 Fitting Rationale) and then switch between (VAC+ and NAL2) in various environments (noisy, quiet, etc).

Also note that (by default) multiple Oticon Programs are paired meaning that if you make changes to P1 then the changes will be propagated to P2. I don't recall if the same applies when changing P2 propagating to P1? But it could be tested. ;)

Even though multiple Oticon Programs are paired you can unpair them by clicking the Symbol. A New program will have a pairing handle (P1 OO P2) indicating paired. But you can click the symbol and un-pair the two making them individually adjustable, (P1 o o P2). In other words, it can be permanently based on P1, or You can unlink the relationship to P1 and proceed to adjust one or both separately.

HMm; No best practice REM from your audiologist? This means that your fitting must be based only on your audiogram input.

Then, (since your fitting seems to be based only on your audiogram) you could also experiment with (FITTING/MORE TOOLS/In-situ Audiometry) which loosely speaking, creates a new audiogram based on hearing beeps for each frequency in your hearing aids..

Oh btw> We can't see your audiogram like you can see mine by clicking a link in my Signature below. ;)

In his "opinion" and 20 Years of experience he says the software does the job so well so REM not needed.. The Price was unbeatable and me as a DiY will get the best out of "it"..

That is a good hint to uncouple the Programs. I already put NAL2 on P1 and VAC+ on P4.

He could be right? Though, he could also be taking shortcuts to give you a good price?

All that REM does is to measure the sound (at your eardrum) to insure that the Rx/Prescription calculated for your (hearing loss/Audiogram) is reaching your eardrums.

And all that I am saying is now that you have the shortcut version of professional fitting, you can proceed into DIY without any worry about losing the (professional/expensive/and-sometimes-important) REM adjustments.

Did you get a copy of your Audiogram? You can use that (plus correct Acoustics choices) to get back to the original fitting. Also, if you saved the original settings (Step 4 in 02 How to Program your Hearing Aids) then you can use that to get back to the original fitting.

AND, since getting back to your original Rx/Prescription is a breeze, you have the ability to try your own (at-the-eardrum) tone testing by starting an In-situ fitting. The tone beeps (for each frequency) will be generated by your hearing aids, and you choose when you hear each beep.

Careful with changing the default (coupled programs). It cuts both ways. For example; if you change your acoustics, then maybe you want to apply this difference to both programs.
