Hello here.
Born with hearing losses in both ears, got tinnitus in my childhood, was equipped with aids only in adulthood due to parents having no f to give. Now in my 30s.
ENTs are somewhat helpless and overbooked in France. Fortunately, i've got a good audioprosthetist, but i need them more than they can reasonably give me the time for something i can and want to handle myself.

Hi @golem446141 Welcome;

The DIY School Hearing Aids (v2.2) access portals are at your finger tips via 24/7 cloud storage access.
  • Start here → DIY School Hearing Aids (v2.2) to find the access portals
  • You can easily find the Access Portals again/anytime, by clicking any PVC Avatar (click twice - counting the 2nd popup Avatar)
  • When logged in, you can find the Access Portals again/anytime, by clicking a Link in my Signature
  • And finally, you can perform a simple Internet search for "DIY School Hearing Aids"
Also, what model hearing aids do you wear?

Hello pvc,
sorry for the late answer.
I have a pair of Widex Moment Sheer sRIC 440.
I've tried Phonak before (to replace an older Widex pair), but my ears didn't like them, they were uncomfortable due to the wire have a different form and length.

The link you gave here and in MP were useful, thank you. I have not bought the bluetooth adapter yet, i'll be playing with the software for now.
It's reassuring to have a sight on the interface of a crucial device.

For Widex Moment sRIC 440 you will need a wireless programming device. See three choices listed below.

AFAIK "Sheer" is just a "Buzz Word" and since the (Widex Compass GPS fitting software) does not show a separate "Sheer" model, then I believe that Widex Moment and Widex Moment Sheer are the same hearing aids.
  • Noahlink Wireless 2
  • Noahlink Wireless
  • Widex PRO LINK

Based on this page, Sheer seem to be just an additional name to the Moment sRIC R D. Maybe because it's their RIC flagship, being rechargeable. It is the only RIC model with its own page.

According to this page, they differentiate the Sheer from the battery-powered Moment.
Moment 10 and Moment 312 have the name of their batteries.

R probably mean rechargeable. I couldn't find out what D was in their designation.

Ah! Thanks for that!! It makes perfect sense. Sheer = Rechargeable Battery. I was looking from within the Compass GPS software so I didn't see any difference. I guess I didn't look hard enough. :p

I couldn't find out what D was in their designation.
In Compass GPS Model Selection you can Mouse Hover over a specific model and get some extra popup tools, namely (i and +). Click the (i) for information about that model.

I looked at some models designated as "D" and also some not designated as not "D".
Perhaps the "D" models have these extra features;
  • 2.4 GHz control (Android and iOS)
  • 2.4 GHz audio streaming (Android and iOS)

I think maybe Widex is Toast/Done;

As listed in DIY School Hearing Aids (v2.2) PDF File named (Big-5 Platforms/New Chips, see clip below) Widex has no significant advances since the release of Widex Moment in 2020-Q1. That is almost 5 years ago! I am not counting the (2024-Q1 SMARTRIC) because it was after the merger into Sivantos/Signia and it looks like a bent Signia Styletto. I am also not counting the Widex Sheer model because I believe it may be a simple upgrade to rechargeable battery without any other functional changes/enhancements.

Though, I could be wrong. I'm just guessing! But show me something new/significant since 5 years ago!
