Are you talking about the Companion cellphone App. That's not a hearing aid programming device. That's a simple volume up/volume down/mute and slightly fancier frequency slider. It's for very simple and very specific control. In other words, a "proprietary" gimmick. You can use your hearing aid buttons for similar functions.

I was referring to your Accessories>End Fitting snapshot in Genie 2, showing that the Sound quality can be adjusted between Fuller and Brighter and assume that this will shape the frequency response although perhaps in a limited way.
I had today discovered the Companion app. As you say, it has basic functionality and is not a programming device. Nor does it allow me to pair with both the iPhone and iPad simultaneously and requires the battery compartment on the hearing aids to be opened and closed when switching between the two devices - arguably slightly easier than switching without the app. Although the sound profile through the TV Adapter is unusable right now, it is at least a selectable programme (General>Speech in Noise>TV Adapter) without needing to open the batteries.
Something else I discovered today is the meaning of “MFI HEARING DEVICES” in Settings>Accessibility>Hearing Devices. In my case with iPhone/iPad, “MFI” means “Made For iPhone”.
The reason for pairing the PC directly with the hearing aids was two fold. Firstly for streaming (as with the streamer 3.1) and secondly for programming. I’m not an expert, but I see Bluetooth as merely the duplex communication link for data exchange. It’s a shame that the protocol required for basic streaming and programming isn’t available as software modules to run in the PC instead of using the extra Noahlink wireless hardware.
I didn’t find the GN ReSound Airlink 2 for sale but in any case, as I think you may have previously said, the Noahlink wireless 2 will be more future-proof. The cheapest one on offer from China is £168 but have found one seller in the UK at £237. If this company confirms it actually has stock in the UK, I will probably bite the bullet and pay the higher price.
