Cleaning your ears with a Q-tip could damage your hearing

I wear hearing aids since i was 4, my ears itches badly and I used q tips constantly for relief!
 
I use q tips too to dry out my ears from aid wearing all day and wax remover but I did hear an ENT say your pushing wax further down the canal when we use q-tips to remove it all.
