  • No need to pretend you are a newbie
  • No need to be ashamed, we are all part of the HoH Community
  • The Hoh Community is not defined by any specific hearing aid forum
  • You can provide Help or receive Help on any hearing aid forum

Cool! Great to know. Is there any place that can help me understand the history and purpose for this forum, vs any other - pros and cons?
Hadn't truly absorbed that they are different...

My understanding about the purpose for this forum is to provide "help for the HoH Community", period!

imo/In My Opinion; Others sites may be geared towards selling advertising to hearing aid manufacturers, and/or professional participants.

Did you know that other sites may "hide" the DIY section of the forum, by placing DIY verbiage all the way towards the right-hand side of a forum topic title, so that visitors will not likely notice any DIY discussion because long titles get truncated!! Hahaha, I helped negotiate that technique for a currently-existing semi-hidden DIY section!!

Want to see evidence of the above at other sites? Just post a DIY question on a (hoi polloi/not-DIY) forum topic.
  • BAM!! it will (always/without fail) get moved to the semi-hidden DIY section for you.

Then there is DIY School plagiarism at another site. Twice! Hopefully these copied posts will fade away with time.

Also, I was willing to let this settle in the dust bin. But (since you asked) here's what really chaps my hide!!

This → event of temporarily banning unwanted forum members by removing their ability to respond, and then encourage (or at least allow) other forum members to post disparaging remarks about the undesirables, even calling them the three stooges! And, with the end-result of banning them anyway.

What the Hell gives forum owners/moderators the right to treat unwanted forum members so badly? Banishment is enough punishment! There's no need for this additional spectacle (akin to medieval town square stoning).

Also, if you read further down the two DIY School plagiarists show up. In the early days of DIY School, edit capability for all forum posts would expire after 90-days, so I had to delete-and-repost some forum topics that were going obsolete. I am guessing, this is why the two plagiarists tried to save DIY School by copying my material and re-posting it. But even after explaining the 90-day obsolesce issue, they still persist in TRYNA stamp out my "evil intentions".

Heh - not to continue dragging up an old thread, but you were removed from there for "consuming a disproportionate amount of admin time" lol.

That was on the same forums that gave you awards titled "appreciated", "respected", "good share", "gives back", "devotee", and "famous link".

The internet is a wild and strange place and sadly I've seen that kind of cycle before dating all the way back to the BBS's in the 1980's. Some people have a vision of what they want and attempt to enforce control rather than be reasonable, and when it's their ball being played with they have the right to take that ball away and kick you out of the game.

As Zig Zigler said once, "You can't always change the rules of the game, all you can do is change the ballfield you play in."
