I took my backup hearing aids (Oticon More 1s) in for rechargeable battery replacement.
Even though rechargeable battery replacement is a fairly simple procedure, the VA does not replace the batteries on-site. Instead they cheerfully send the hearing aids back for factory repair. I was previous aware of this factory-repair requirement but I wanted to verify the procedure personally. Now that I have experienced it personally (as my hearing aids got sent back for factory repair), a word to the wise;
Don't dik-around with any free battery schemes, because the batteries have serial numbers which are made available to the Genie 2 fitting software. I don't know if Oticon will verify the old serial numbers? But I do know they have the capability as shown in this→ forum post and the following fitting software image.
