I have tinnitus in both ears, all the time, but if I'm paying attention to something else I don't notice it.

I recently read in a magazine called 'New Scientist' that the latest theory is that tinnitus is caused by the brain generating "sound" to compensate for the loss of external input.  I have severe loss at 8kHz, and my tinnitus is in that pitch range.  I'm just looking for HAs, and I think I need one that has strong amplification at 8kHz, in order to prevent the worsening of tinnitus.
