Hi
I've recently been given these aids on the NHS at Specsavers. Early days, but it seems like more of the same ... amplifying all the noise I don't want to hear. The only differerence being, I can control them with my phone. But I'm not sure I want phone in hand constantly. Like previous generations of aids the volume can be controlled by the rocker on the aids so, at the end of the day, is the app anything more than gimmick.

I'd love to hear what others think of Signia Strettas.

I wear a different brand, But I never use the App. I don't even use the hearing aid buttons for Volume up because everything gets a volume increase, including background noise.

Here a clip from a DIY School Hearing Aids (v2.2_ PDF File named (Unlocking ReBranded Hearing Aids);

The Specsaver-Stretta model is getting a bit old (about 6 years old), going on 7. Here a clip from a DIY School Hearing Aids (Big-5 Platforms/New Chips);

Also; the DIY School Hearing Aids (v2.2) access portals are at your finger tips via 24/7 cloud storage access.
  • Start here → DIY School Hearing Aids (v2.2) to find the access portals
  • You can easily find the Access Portals again/anytime, by clicking any PVC Avatar (click twice - counting the 2nd popup Avatar)
  • When logged in, you can find the Access Portals again/anytime, by clicking a Link in my Signature
  • And finally, you can perform a simple Internet search for "DIY School Hearing Aids"

Are the Strettas (BTE models) designed for Power?
Yes, they are BTE with extremely tight moulds. The user guide says Stretta Aya M, Stretta Aya M NT, Stretta Aya HP.

I guess the booklet is relevant to three models. I don't know which ones I have! What's a good way to find out, and does it matter?

EDIT. And I don't know what you mean when you say, "designed for Power?"

When you know which Signia model has been (ReBranded as a Stretta Model) then you might find the Signia documentation describing the technical features of that model. Did you click the links (light blue colored) which will take you to previous discussion, and also to technical documents?

For Reference; This chart showing types of hearing losses;

I don't know if Technical Documentation is going to help much, not that I'm desperate for help, just thought it would be nice to chat with others in a similar situation. I'd like to know what others think of Specsavers, compared to NHS direct.

Here's a question:

My aids, like others before them, have a rocker switch for adjusting volume and for changing programmes. I can't change programmes! I suppose I could ask at Specsavers if they've loaded more than one programme, or if they don't give you more than one when you are using the phone app. Hmmmm.

Try a long button press (to the count of one-thousand-one) which may change to a different program using a hearing aid button, and as opposed to a short button press for changing volume.

Here's a link to the → Signia App which typically has an option to change programs.

Oh, and I don't know where to find NHS hearing aid chat buddies? Sorry ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Thanks pvc, but I had already tried that. This is what the manual says (page 9)

The audiologist failed to tick boxes to let me know how it's been set up. I was just a bit reluctant to go back and ask: I've already been 7 times (micro-suction, moulds made, fitting, etc), I've seen a different audiologist every time, and they don't always agree, are not good listeners.

Just read that bit at the bottom of the page again, and it suggests switching progs and app adjustments an compatible.
