I’m 86 years old and my wife and I have been together for 68 years.
I am on my 3 set of hearing aids from the VA. They are Resound aids and have worked well for me. When watching tv, I still have trouble hearing a lot of words. Women’s voices seem to be the hardest to hear. Just throwing that out there and suggestions appreciated.

Hi @Pappy 2 Welcome;
That's what a TV streaming device is made for. Your setup goes like this;
  • connect a TV Streamer to your TV via Toslink optical cable
  • Pair your hearing aids to the TV Streamer device for wireless streaming
  • Activate a streaming program on your hearing aids via hearing aid button push, or using a remote App
Voila! The clarity of dialog directly/wirelessly into your hearing aids is outstanding!! Click this Resound TV Streamer→ Link.

Ask the VA to purchase these for you for FREE!! Better yet, how old are your hearing aids? Maybe it is replacement time and you could get NEW hearing aids in addition to the TV Streamer device. Some newer hearing aid models are now more helpful with Speech-in-Noise problems!

Thank you so much. I do have a VA streamer but still trying to get it to work. My hearing aids, Resound, are brand new. Pappy

Problem is, I only have one USB port on my 65 inch LC and that goes to my sound bar. No place to run another lead to hearing aid streamer.
Thanks so much for your help. Pappy

No you don't want a USB connection. You should use the Audio-Out connection.

If you can say which model TV you have, then I will try to post an image of your back panel.

A → Toslink Digital Optical Audio Cable has a plug on each end that is shaped like the English Alphabet Letter "U". So it only fits one way!!

You should use a Toslink Digital Optical Audio Cable to connect Optical-Audio-Out from your TV to Optical-Audio-In on your Streamer.

This is the Optical-Audio-Out on a TV; It has a little door that opens upwards when you push the plug in. The Flat/Top part of the U-shape faces up and Round part of the U-shape faces down.

This is also the Optical-Audio-Out on a TV;

Don't be shy. Tell us if you have tried this?

Oh, your GN ReSound TV Streamer+ doesn't have the U-shape connection on the TV Streamer+ end of the cable. It has a plug on the TV Streamer+ end instead. But that cable should be supplied with the GN ReSound TV Streamer+, right?

Thank you so much for your advice. I’m going to try this and see what happens. Pappy

After you get Streamer+ connected to your TV there are two more steps;
  • Pair your hearing aids with Streamer+
  • Start (and stop) the Audio Streaming process on your hearing aids

Me again. Here is my set up as of now. Sorry, it won’t let me show photos.

Can you explain it? Is this what it looks like on your TV?

And is this what it looks like on your Streamer+?

Do you have a model number for your SoundBar? I am wondering why it seemingly needs two inputs?

Also what is that connector next to Optical-out on your TV?

It difficult to see from that angle. Oh, maybe that's an (Ethernet cable connection) for connecting your TV to a home Router;

Okay, I'm thinking this Yellow-TV-Output is HDMI output (ARC/Audio-Return Channel). Typical instructions for ARC say "Connect the HDMI output (ARC) port from the soundbar to the HDMI (ARC) or HDMI (eARC) Audio-Return Channel enabled port on your TV. This allows Dolby Atmos audio to flow from the TV apps or other devices connected to the TV via HDMI. Although most new TVs are capable of this, older models may not be. Consult your TV manufactuer for more information. Use the setup menu on the TV to ensure the soundbar is recognized via the ARC connection. Turn on CEC control if you wish to use your TV remote to perform simple soundbar controls, such as volume up or down."

If your (ARC/Audio-Return Channel) is activated then your One/Yellow HDMI cable connection will carry the sound to your soundbar. And, if this is the case then the Blue Optical Out from your TV is redundant.

Tip: Try disconnecting one-end-or-the-other of your Blue Optical cable.

Now if your Soundbar still works then the Blue Optical Out from your TV is proven to be redundant.

Now, if the Blue Optical Out from your TV was proven to be redundant then use the blue optical out cable to connect to your your StreamerX.

Tip: Maybe the setup menu on the TV was never used to ensure the soundbar is recognized via the ARC connection and maybe that is why the extra Blue Optical cable was required in a previous setup?
