What type of communication? Streaming is a (somewhat simple, well defined, continuous) wireless protocol. But you cannot use this simple streaming protocol to update memory inside your hearing aid (which is what needs to happen). And, at the end of a fitting session, there needs to be an option to keep the changed hearing aid settings, or restore the previous settings to your hearing aid memory. A continuous wireless streaming protocol can't do this. And, we haven't even talked about firmware updates to replace the brains (so to speak) of your hearing aids.
The wireless (or even wired) communications protocol for reading/writing your hearing aid memory/firmware is more complicated than a continuous wireless streaming protocol.
